A cost effective solution to enhance VMware performance
Looking for a way to improve the performance of your VMware servers to host intensive applications such as databases?
Or are you open to saving money on hardware and licensing by using less VMware hosts to run the same number or more virtual machines?
Or are you looking for a quick and easy way to take the high IOPS load that VMware causes off your existing shared storage solution that is struggling to keep up?
Well, ioCache could be the answer. The ioCache product from FusionIO matches high speed auto-tiering cache software with 600GB of enterprise grade NAND Flash solid state storage to provide up to 100,000 IOPS of performance to virtual machines right where it needs it the most - inside the VMware host server.
Given that most RAID disk arrays provide less than 5,000 IOPS, the ioCache solution is in a league of its own. Plus, it is fully compatible with standard VMware featues such as VMotion and does not require any specialised knoweldge or integration expertise. A single reboot of the host server is all that is required.

Overview of the ioCache solution
The ioCache solution has three components.
The first is the ioTurbine cache software that provides fully automated tiering of 'hot' data onto high speed NAND Flash storage for highest performance. This software sits on the VMware host and includes clients that are installed inside each virtual machine. << Click here for the fact sheet >>
The second is an ioDrive2 installed inside the host server and provides 600GB of non-volatile ultra high speed storage to store the 'hot' data for quick access. 'Cold' data is automatically moved back to the SAN.
The third is the ioSphere monitoring software that is installed on the VMware host server. ioSphere monitors the system, tracks performance and allows for alerts to be set up.
